Will my financial aid money cover courses previously attempted, or courses of interest?

Question by Nessa: Will my financial aid money cover courses previously attempted, or courses of interest?
Okay I previously took a couple college courses that I didn't do so well in. I recently got awarded some financial aid money and also the BOGW(board of governors fee waiver for CA). I was just curious as to whether or not that money can be used to better my grades in these courses (Computer Information 1 and a humanities course). I also would like to take a course over again, even though its only 1 unit, I enjoyed that course, will financial aid cover this 1 unit geography course?

Yes, federal financial aid will cover any courses you attempt as long as you are within compliance with the Academic Progress Policy (successfully completing 67% of attempted credits) and are making satisfactory progress within your degree program, which basically means that you are scheduled to graduate in your major in a timely manner.

You should be able to take over the classes and have the grade replaced on your transcript so only the better grade is calculated in your GPA. As for taking a class that you enjoyed and did well in, what is the point? Your college may have a policy in repeating classes that you had a B or better in that will prevent you from earning credit in that particular class (excluding classes like choir or orchestra). Financial aid will probably cover it, but you should consider your long-term goals and how re-taking a class will be beneficial to your degree program.
